India is a mystical land of intoxicating cultures and customs that stir the senses and provoke the imagination. It is also India's vastness that inspires awe: one-third the area of the United States, the Republic of India occupies most of the subcontinent of India in southern Asia and is home to one-sixth of the world's population.
Consisting of 25 individual states, each with their own very distinct history, geography, language and culture, India is one of the most diverse lands in the world.
The program site is located in Udaipur, a town of half a million inhabitants located in the northwest state of Rajasthan. This "City of Lakes" is equally well known for its palaces. And to combine the two features, it also yields many palaces established in the middle of lakes. Also known as "Venice of the East", Udaipur was named "Best City of the World" in 2009 by Travel and Leisure.
