Spend two weeks this summer exploring all that India has to offer while contributing to a worthwhile hands on development project with local organizations. Home to 28 ethnically diverse states, each with its own music, dance, architecture, and food, India offers visitors immense diversity. You will work side by side with community members and local NGOs on self-determined projects which may include school construction, education assistance, reforestation and more.
Projects are determined by community need as well as volunteers' skills and interests. Participants can expect a mutually beneficial experience as part of real, sustainable development and professional growth. A designated Project Coordinator guides each participant through the project planning, execution, and conclusion phases of their program. Community round table discussions will allow volunteers to reflect on their role in the community's development and more broadly on their role as a global citizen.
The shared project is just one of many ways that volunteers interact with our host communities. Weekend trips to world famous archeological sites and adventure locations complement each volunteer's discovery. Living with a local family and cultural visits and events enhance immersion in the local culture. Excursions include visits to palaces and temples, trips to national parks, weekend development projects, and remote community cultural festivals.
During the two week program, students can expect cultural or outdoor adventures as well as project outings. Excursions may include:
Volunteers will live with carefully screened homestay families. The families will provide all meals throughout the program.
