Dublin is both the largest city and the capital of Ireland. Located in the center of the eastern coast, it is an economic and cultural hub for this island country. Recent surveys in Europe have named Dublin the best capital city in Europe in which to live. Additionally, Dublin has the fastest growing population of European cities; with some estimating that 50 percent of the city is aged 25 and younger. Youthful and culturally diverse demographics make this an ideal location for student internships.
Placements are customized around each student's academic background, any relevant work experience, and career goals. Interns can expect to work full-time (about 40 hours/week) and report to a supervisor who will act as a mentor to both work and non-work related topics. On-site coordinators and fellow interns also provide excellent resources and a friendly support network. Weekends are free and can be spent exploring the vast city of Dublin, visiting neighboring cities, or hopping around Europe.
In addition to providing professional opportunities, Dublin also boasts a number of excellent entertainment options. Explore castles, museums, and art galleries or simply grab a friend and head to the local Irish pub. Whether you are interested in historical literature and arts, the boisterous sporting events or the colorful music scene, there is a something for everyone to experience in Dublin.
Potatoes, harps, shamrocks, Guinness, the good people (leprechauns), Kilkenny Castle, pubs, Dun Aengus, and an excellent pre-professional internship opportunity.
Shanowen Square is a new apartment complex designed especially for student use. It is located approximately 3 miles from Dublin city center, across from the campus of Dublin City University in the Glasnevin/Santry neighborhood. Shanowen Square is well served by public transportation with a number of buses running frequently to the city center as well as connection services to the DART commuter train service.
