Travel Europe and follow in the footsteps of Frederic Chopin, a central cultural figure in Europe during the early 1800s, while celebrating the 200th Anniversary of his Birth. Chopin singlehandedly
defined the public image of the artist, and inspired a host of new ideas of what it means to be an artist, support artists and the arts in general. This program is designed for music majors but open to anyone interested in Music History and the Arts. The trip will focus on Chopin and his long-time romantic partner George Sand (a woman ahead of her time, and one of Europe’s most influential female writers). Students will have the opportunity to visit the Chopin Academy in Warsaw, Poland and then head off to the Paris Conversatory in Paris, France.
MU 199 will be offered for 3 credits.
