Summer in Ireland

Program Information

Join us this summer for a 2-week tour of Ireland and experience all that this small country has to offer.

During your 2-week stay in Ireland visit top sites throughout Dublin, Sligo, Galway and the world-renowned Aran Islands. Ireland has a great story to tell and what better place to do it than on the Emerald Isle! Throughout this traveling program students will see large metropolitan areas, small country towns, meeting local Irish folk and absorb all that this small country has to offer - all while earning 3 credits towards your degree!

Ireland as your classroom – Spend 2 weeks this summer traveling through Ireland and earn 3 credits towards your degree. Students can choose to receive English or international studies credit during their travels.

Visit the top sites of Ireland – Enjoy a medieval dinner show at the Bunratty Castle, walk the streets of Dublin and visit the National Museum, and take in the beautiful views off the coast of the Aran Islands.

Faculty-led program – Inexperienced traveler or avid adventurer? This program allows those that haven't stamped their passport to travel for a week with JU faculty or if you've traveled extensively jet off to the rest of Europe at the end of the program for more adventures.

Curriculum

IS 305/EH378. The Celts; Leprechauns, Braveheart, and Harry Potter (3 credits)

This course is designed to encourage a clearer understanding of the influence the Irish have exerted on the world and on themselves through their attempts to define "Irishness."  We will examine the characteristics that the Irish have traditionally prized and validated.
