Internships in Spain give participants the opportunity to improve their Spanish on and off the placement site as well as gain a more global perspective in their career field. Interns are placed in fields very specific to their academic studies and are expected to have a minimum of an intermediate level of Spanish language to best interact with their colleagues. Interning in Spain allows for perhaps the most practical application of academic studies and Spanish language, not to mention the opportunity to live among one of the most beautiful and culturally-rich countries in the world. Most interns are placed in Barcelona based on its blend of excellent internship opportunities and rich culture.
Barcelona is the second largest city in Spain and is situated on its northeastern coast on the beautiful Mediterranean Sea. Just a train ride away from France and the rest of Western Europe, Barcelona's location makes it a top international destination. For visitors and residents alike, the culture of Barcelona doesn't go unnoticed. The capital and cultural hub of the Spanish region of Catalunya, Barcelona is a blend of Spanish, French, Mediterranean and uniquely Catalán identities.
The world renowned Gothic architecture of Gaudí as well as modern parks, buildings and infrastructure of the 21st century combine to make Barcelona a world-class city. Walk down the bustling pedestrian strip of las ramblas to enjoy cafes, restaurants, market stalls and museums while marveling at the "statuesque" street performers. The coastline boasts a spectacular boardwalk that especially comes to life at night, as well as seven spectacular beaches. Internships are customized to allow for an excellent and practical application of the intern's skills, while also saving time for culture and language acquisition.
