Gain practical internship experience while immersing yourself in the friendly Kiwi workplace and lively, modern Pacifica culture. Diversity abounds in New Zealand workplaces and creates a harmonious blend of backgrounds, cultures, and skills. Internships are with a host individual, organization, or company where an intern has a genuine working experience and the opportunity to learn more about that specific environment and the New Zealand culture in general.
The pre-professional program allows interns to learn the fundamentals of working in a specialized field related to their undergraduate or graduate studies. The experience goes much beyond getting a feel for the "nine to five" while paper-pushing or playing receptionist. Practical placements are arranged with companies seeking both an intercultural exchange and an intern that can offer a fresh and unique perspective to the workplace. The nature of the internship program allows the intern to acquire experience usually reserved for young professionals well removed from college.
Opportunities exist throughout New Zealand, although many are centered in the capital city of Wellington. This vibrant environment and top 20 international destination is a fantastic location to boost your résumé and gain international work experience. In addition to great professional opportunities, Wellington offers a myriad of cultural entertainment options. Whether you are looking for food, film, theater, art or music, you will find something to wet your appetite for fun in Wellington.
New Zealand, possessing beautiful scenery, recreational diversity and the cultural identity of modern Pacifica, welcomes all travelers. The over-riding impression that many take away with them is the friendliness of the people. New Zealanders themselves are much traveled and welcome the opportunity to show visitors their land and often forge lasting friendships in the process.
Interns will be living in centrally located apartments. This style of housing is popular with local university students and is within a 15 minute walking distance from Massey University, Victoria University and the Central Business District.
Students and young professionals enjoy the social environment within these shared, self-catered apartments with fully equipped kitchen white-ware and cooking utensils. This apartment style living gives students the independence and privacy they need and provides fantastic opportunities to meet and interact with local New Zealanders as well as other international students.
