Semester in Reading

Program Information

Spend a semester in Reading, just outside of London, and experience the best of this suburban setting's academics, history and culture.  Reading is a multicultural town, with a population of 130,000 and a large number of thriving ethnic communities.  Reading is at the heart of England’s Royal heritage and home to a wealth of churches, castles and abbeys in the area. Located just 30 minutes by train from London, the program site is on a beautiful 300 acres of landscaped parkland, known as the Whiteknights.

The program at the University of Reading provides a wealth of support and additional community spirit for international students and is set in a beautiful, safe and easily accessible location.  The University is ranked as one of the UK’s 10 most research-intensive universities and as one of the top 200 universities in the world.  The broad portfolio of courses covers the arts, humanities, sciences and social sciences, and appeals to students studying either local topics or those maintaining their academic path from their home university.

Contemporary study facilities, halls of residence, support services, cafés and bars are centrally located on one of the most attractive university campuses in the UK.  All this is just a short walk or ride from the centre of Reading with its lively mix of culture, nightlife, shops and eating-places.  For those preferring country pursuits, the Chiltern Hills and the River Thames are close by.  Excellent transport links put Oxford, London and Heathrow within easy reach.

Housing

Accommodations are provided in on-campus residence halls with British students and other international students. Typically, students share bathroom facilities and are provided with a bed, mattress, desk, dresser, and storage space.

"It is the best experience, life altering.  Enjoy it: the experience, the people, and growing as an individual is really what you will remember most.  Go abroad and meet new and interesting people from other cultures."
